A second Earth may not be as far as we thought

The checkout line is the only play where I get irritated; this just makes it worse. In response I wrote a note saying I will not shop at their store until these seizure inducing panels of ADD are gone. And I am going to stick to it.

Next thing I know they will respond that it is for "entertaining customers waiting in line."

While I have yet to conduct a review of it myself, it seems to be the for where the user can arrange the content they get online into albums. The only hitch is that the free version encodes the files downloaded making it only viewable in the browser, while the $20 version allows the files to be viewable with your preferred media viewer.

This is a slightly unusual gift, in my opinion, which leads me to believe there is a subtle ulterior motive behind the gift... and it has nothing to do with the president's intelligence.

When the mod came out it created an uproar in the political arena because a hacker discovered unused code in the game that allows your avatar to have sex. The rating of the game was bumped to adult only. suffered a similar fate when some fans released mods that made the female characters naked. The single track mind of The Public and The Government is causing talk for legislation that ultimately is a form of censorship. Could 's little gift be a little suggestion that the industry doesn't need government oversight? Or is this just an over analysis of a simple PR stunt?

The fires of love

Thursday 06 July 2006 at 4:17 pm After my last year my soul was rendered down to a scorched ember to the point it took me two months before the saplings in the ashes could tell about it. It hurt. It STILL hurts. Curled up in my defeat I thought that when I returned to watch in the following year the only emotions would be simple enjoyment of the performance in front of me, devoid of the fire of that I had.

Was I ever wrong.

Last night I went to the Drums of Fire show in Salem. The first corps on the field was Spokane Thunder. As they were getting ready to start and the announcer going through the traditional "Judges are you ready? , is your corps ready?", as the salute was given, the feeling began to build inside me. In the moment in between where the drum major holds their arms in the air waiting to conduct the first down beat, in the moment in between breaths and the heart all but stops. I felt it too. Not only did I know how they felt in that moment in between, but I felt it too.

Their show proceeded quite well in my opinion. They are in their second or third year of competition and are very much improving from years past.

The Oregon Crusaders were the next on. I was one of them for three years. Very weird feelings crept in around the perimeter of my soul, identical to the feelings I had when watching my high school band perform after I graduated. Here in front of me was an entity that I been apart of for three years -- people and traditions and places and ways of doing things. Only a year ago it would be me looking into the stands, not the other way around. An out of body experience is the closest way I can describe what I felt looking down upon the green.

Their performance was like no other. The cleanliness of the drill and feet, the quality and sheer intensity of the sound. That show was alive. I was screaming and almost bouncing in the seat with the energy radiating.. no, blasting out of them. A quality show is one where you do not notice the passing of time -- the show seemed only a couple of minutes long instead of the several it actually was. Jealous. I am jealous. I would kill to march that show with them. This should have been the year I aged out. The pain and torment which caused the misery last year was gone according to my friends who are still in the corps. I longed to be with them out there. The field is my home.

The Crusaders also performed the encore -- performing 99 Balloons and God Gave Rock and Roll to You by KISS, the latter now being the corps' song. Once again I was overwhelmed by the power and the joy and the love.....

The fire in me is born again.

When I returned home I just sat on my bed and cried for about 20 minutes. I, of all people, don't deserve a second chance, but that does not change how much I love it so. As I explained to Derek, it would be like if we saw each other for three years, and knowing at the end of the third year we would never be able to see each other face to face again.

My soul was touched by the art on a cold night in November in 1999 when we received a standing ovation during the major impact. The touch lasts for life. Now that the love returned there is no place to put my affection to and despite the heat of joy I curled up on my bed totally alone.

Work?

Monday 03 July 2006 at 8:15 pm Due to the generous wording of my contract I have been able to hang on to my lab attendant job for the summer term. Once again I am averaging 20 hours a week at $8/hr, but this is only temporary. On September 8th I will lose this position and my friend I am sitting for will be back four weeks before that. I'm combing the Internet for a , and so far have been unsuccessful. I'm hunting for some kind of related job as that is what I am most proficient in, but I have no formal training in technology while computer science majors are a dime a dozen. Meanwhile my is worthless in everything except in -- I do with to return to to earn my , but I wish to spend some time off as 17 years of schooling left me rather jaded. As the month go on I will expand the criteria and may even return to the food or grocery industry. I very much enjoy living on my own and hope to keep it that way.

And yes, I am getting rather tag happy - I just have to figure out how to fix that small bug that is rendering them useless!
